After some thumbnail planning of our Summer travels, we decided it was time to leave our Winter Torrey Oaks home. First stop was to visit our son’s family near Jacksonville, Fl. After a bit of prior coordination, we had a 50amp connection and water hookups waiting at their newly purchased home. The only question was, could we get all 43′ of Ike backed into their driveway. As suspected it was a bit of a challenge but after about 50 minutes, the removal of the mailbox & post, we successfully maneuvered Ike over their “not so wide” culvert, through the fence, down the freshly asphalt grindings laden driveway and connected into its new home for the next week.
We had a great visit, spent time with our Son and daughter-in-law and Liberty, our son’s Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Liberty, that lived with Stephanie & I for most of its first 12 years. While there we found a small restaurant that had awesome butterflied fried shrimp. It was not far away and called Nicole’s Cafe in the Country in Middleburg, Fl. and we would go back. We visited St Augustine and enjoyed that trip, we also visited our son’s US Navy unit at Jacksonville NAS and the Jacksonville area.
We tried to visit the Clay County Fair, however, we got there about 1800hrs and they charged $10 per person entrance fee and it shut down at 2100hrs. I’ve been to more than a couple county fairs and $10 entrance fee is a bit out of the ordinary. So we passed on the fair and found other things to do.
We had a great visit and look forward to returning.
