We joined the local Elks Lodge this past winter while in Florida. As a member, we can stay at Elk Lodges around the country that have accommodations for RVs. Our first opportunity to try a Lodge stay was along Highway 35N in Missouri at a very nice active lodge near Cameron. We called and learned that they had a Benefit Concert scheduled for the weekend that we wanted to stay there. They said it might be a bit noisy and crowded, but welcomed our stay. They said they had a 50 amp site and would provide us a water connection if we required it. We arrived mid afternoon and was met by the gentleman we’d spoken with on the phone. He helped us get situated and here we are parked at the lodge.
We got settled in and visited the Lodge. The people were very friendly and inviting and we had a good time chatting with the locals.
The next day we took a drive to the Quilt Capital of Missouri, Hamilton. We learned that Hamilton is also the birthplace of J.C. Penney. (AKA James Cash Penney) The majority of the town is different quilt retail spaces, all owned and operated by one company.
I did manage to find a brewery, which was quite nice.
The next day the benefit concert was in full swing. They had many bands scheduled throughout the day and the headliner was Pure Prarie League.
We enjoyed our visit, had a great time and met some friendly people. We would certainly stay here again if we pass this way.
